Ms. Dolly Wittberger

Senior Gender Mainstreaming and EU Integration Adviser

Ms. Dolly Wittberger has spent 16 years working on gender equality integration in sector governance reform and EU accession in the Enlargement region. She led Albania's first systematic gender mainstreaming project ("Equity in Governance", 2007-2011) funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation and was seconded by the Austrian Government as Team Lead for the first UN Women "Gender Equality Facility" initiative in Albania. She's a certified gender trainer and governance expert who has provided technical support for various projects implemented by organizations such as the UN, ADA, GIZ, OSCE, USAID, and the World Bank. Additionally, she served as a gender mainstreaming advisor to the EU Delegation in Albania, focusing on EU programming and implementing the EU Gender Action Plan. Currently, as the UN Women International Senior Gender Mainstreaming and EU Integration Advisor, she supports the replication and roll-out of the UN Women "Gender Equality Facility" approach in Europe and Central Asia. With a PhD in Molecular Genetics from Vienna University, Austria, and an MA in Gender & Development from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex, Brighton, UK, Ms. Wittberger previously worked as a gender expert for the Dutch and Austrian Development Cooperation in India, Kenya, and Yemen. She is Austrian and speaks German, English, and Albanian.
